About Me.

I have been visiting Mackinac Island ever since I was just a little girl, and that was a very long time ago. In fact, that's me there on the back of the bike with all those curls.  I was used to long bike rides around the island, air perfumed with the heavy scent of lilacs and hunks of chocolate fudge so sweet it made my molars ache. Being introduced to all of this at such a young age, I took the experiences for granted. It wasn’t until a friend married the local fudge maker and I came for my first overnight visit with residents that the island cast its spell on me. I spent that night serenaded by the clippity-clop of horse’s hooves under a sky set with diamonds, and I was bewitched. My name is Michelle and I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a pretty darn good home cooker. My husband, David and I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan with two blonde and perky puppies and a whole flock of visiting friends and family. Married since 1991, our journey together never lacks for excitement. We have cooked for and entertained friends across our great nation, but nowhere as beautiful or as enchanting as Mackinac Island, Michigan. We bought a summer home here five years ago, but this will be our first whole summer on the island. Our plan is to indulge in everything the Island has to offer and share it with you along the way. So, hold on tight, it is going to be a really fun ride!
